Kelly Ripa Shares Her Utter Disdain for ‘The Bachelorette’ One Week Ahead of Interview with Reigning ‘Bachelorette’

We all have differing opinions about which TV shows are the best. While some people prefer comedies, others prefer dramas. While some people prefer reality, some prefer scripted.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion about what’s worth watching, but if you yourself are on a TV show, you’d think maybe you’d be a little careful about what you say about other shows on that same network.

Kelly Ripa doesn’t mince words. She isn’t afraid to speak her mind even about other shows that air on ABC, the network that broadcasts her show “Live with Kelly & Ryan.”

Earlier this week, as Kelly and Ryan were announcing that the newest Bachelorette, Hannah Brown, would be on the show later in the week, Kelly couldn’t stop herself from sharing her true feelings about the show.

Kelly said,

You guys know how I feel about the show…it disgusts me.

Those are quite strong words.

Kelly didn’t go into details about why she feels that way, but she did share a few more details about why she doesn’t like the show “The Bachelor.” She said,

I couldn’t stand the idea of 25 exceptional women fighting over one ordinary fella, in my opinion. We are too special to be arguing over a guy.

The creator of “The Bachelor” and “The Bachelorette,” Mike Fleiss tried to remind Kelly to watch what she said. He responded, “Easy, @kellyripa … #TheBachelor franchise pays your salary!”

It’s been a few days since Kelly’s honest comments, and now she has actually interviewed Hannah Brown. Hannah does not agree with Kelly’s views that the shows are disgusting. In fact, she thinks they’re empowering.

About her experience as a contestant on “The Bachelor,” Hannah told Kelly,

Like you, I didn’t really follow the show, wasn’t a big fan. But, being a part of the show, it’s not women fighting against each other. Really, some of my best friends came from the show and were really supportive…ultimately, it was one of the most empowering things that I ever have done because I had to push myself and grow as an individual. And I did. And I think that’s why I decided that I wanted to be the Bachelorette and wanted that so bad.

We’re not sure if Hannah’s comments changed Kelly’s mind about either show, but it’s certainly a different perspective.

Do you agree with Kelly that “The Bachelor” and “The Bachlorette” are disgusting, or do you agree with Hannah that the shows are empowering?
