The coronavirus pandemic and the resulting quarantine that came with it tested many relationships. Some couples ended up finding that their relationship was stronger than ever before. Other couples ended up realizing that they needed to call it quits.

Kelly Clarkson and Brandon Blackstock are among the list of celebrity couples whose relationship did not survive quarantine. The couple originally thought they would quarantine in Montana. They hoped that some away from Los Angeles would help their already rocky relationship, but it did the exact opposite.

Clarkson filed for divorce over the summer and opened up about the experience on the season premiere of The Kelly Clarkson Show. She didn’t go into any elaborate details though, mainly because she mentioned how protective she is of her children, and she knows the divorce will be anything but easy for them.

It has not been easy for Clarkson and Blackstock to co-parent their children. For starters, Clarkson lives in Los Angeles while she is filming The Kelly Clarkson Show. Meanwhile, Blackstock is still living in Montana.

According to court documents, “the level of conflict between the parents has increased. The parties have a difficult time co-parenting due to issues of trust between them.”

The judge has awarded Clarkson with primary physical custody of her daughter River Rose who is 6 years old, and her son Remington Alexander who is 4 years old. Court documents read, “The Court finds that under the circumstances present in this case, the interest in providing stability and continuity for the minor children weighs in favor of Petitioner having primary custody.”

The court’s decision means that Clarkson’s children can stay her in Los Angeles while she is filming her show; however, they will still be able to see their father and visit him in Montana. Watch the video below for more details about how this custody decision will effect Clarkson’s children.
