Kellogg’s Is Facing a $5 Million Lawsuit from a Woman Who Claims Strawberry Pop-Tarts Don’t Have Enough Strawberries

When we want something healthy for breakfast, we usually reach for organic fruit or make something from scratch, like scramble some eggs and add a bunch of veggies.

When we want something quick and easy for breakfast, we grab something that’s pre-made and prepackaged. Cereal qualifies; although, it can be hard to eat cereal when you’re running out the door. Something that’s easy to hold, like toast, is often better because we can hold eat it while we’re heading to the car, and our kids can even eat it in the car if we’re running late for school drop-off.

You know what our kids like even more than toast? Pop-Tarts. We ate these delicious toaster pastries when we were kids, and our kids love them just as much as we do. They taste like dessert and come in a variety of flavors like s’mores, chocolate fudge and brown sugar cinnamon. If you like fruit flavors, you can choose from options like blueberry, cherry, and strawberry.

Does anyone really think there is real fruit in the fruit flavored Pop-Tarts? We’ve always just thought of them as fruit flavored, but it turns out that a woman named Elizabeth Russett was shocked to discover that there are hardly any strawberries in strawberry Pop-Tarts. The New York resident was so appalled that she decided to sue Kellogg’s, the company that makes Pop-Tarts, for $5 million in damages.

According to TMZ, in the lawsuit, the woman claims that there are not enough strawberries in the product “to provide the berry’s nutritional benefits, let alone a strawberry taste.”
