Jodie Sweetin Says Details What Happened Before She Got Shoved By Police While Protesting

Former Fuller House actress Jodie Sweetin has always been very vocal about police violence as well as women’s rights. Ironically, while participating in a recent protest in Los Angeles in support of abortion rights, she was shoved to the ground by a local police officer after allegedly getting too close.

Sweetin says that the protest was calm and peaceful—at least as calm and peaceful as it could’ve been after the Roe v. Wade Supreme Court was overturned on June 24, causing outrage across the country—the incident that started the protest in the first place.

In videos from the incident, Sweetin can be seen tumbling to the ground after police officers shoved her away from them on the 101 Freeway, where she and many others were protesting. Sweetin stands up right away and was not seriously injured.

Though a setback in the protest, she says that she’s proud of everyone who were there to protest and she’ll never stop fighting for women’s rights.

“I’m extremely proud of the hundreds of people who showed up yesterday to exercise their First Amendment rights and take immediate action to peacefully protest the giant injustices that have been delivered from our Supreme Court,” Sweetin said in a statement provided to ABC News. “Our activism will continue until our voices are heard and action is taken. This will not deter us – we will continue fighting for our rights. We are not free until ALL of us are free.”

The Los Angeles Police Department is evaluating the force that was used during the incident involving Sweetin. “The force used will be evaluated against the LAPD’s policy and procedure,” the department said in a statement. “As the nation continues to wrestle with the latest Supreme Court decision, the Los Angeles Police Department will continue to facilitate 1st Amendment rights, while protecting life and property.”

The photographer who shared the videos, said that Sweetin “was trying to lead a group of peaceful protestors away from the freeway.”

“Jodi is the definition of a real one and fortunately she’s okay!” he added.
