Janet Jackson Speaks Out On Michael Jackson Allegations and More In Upcoming Lifetime Documentary

Janet Jackson is a typically private person. That’s why it’s such a shock—a welcome shock—that she agreed to film a documentary for Lifetime about her life.

The documentary, which is set to premiere on January 28, 2022 over two nights, will go into detail about her upbringing, career, and of course, delve into the ever-intriguing allegations regarding the death of her brother, Michael Jackson (who she refers to as “Mike”), and the child sexual abuse allegations made against him.

The youngest of the Jackson siblings will also be discussing other popular moments from her life, like the controversial appearance during the halftime show at the 2004 Superbowl with Justin Timberlake. (Do we have to remind you what happened?)

Additionally, the documentary will cover a lot of Jackson’s childhood with never-before-seen footage from the time. In fact, part of the documentary was filmed in her hometown of Gary, Indiana.

The documentary will feature a host of artists who are close with Jackson as well, speaking from their points of view. Just some of the special guests include Missy Elliott, Janelle Monae, Whoopi Goldberg, Samuel L. Jackson, Mariah Carey, Teyana Taylor, Tyler Perry, and more.

In the trailer, even the people who know Jackson closely were shocked by her decision to allow a documentary made about her. “For her to want to open up, I’m flabbergasted,” Q-Tip says.

The documentary will be four hours over the course of two days. It took about five years to make, and now it’s officially here! In fact, the air date even has some significance: the 40th anniversary of Jackson’s 1982 self-titled debut LP.

As Jackson says early in the preview about making the four-hour documentary, “It’s just something that needs to be done.”

We can’t wait to check this out! And we’re not the only ones. The trailer is full of comments from fans who are just as thrilled to watch.

“So excited to see this documentary!!! I love Janet!!! I supported her and her career through great and not great times!!! Shine, Queen!!!” someone wrote.

“This documentary has been my highlight for 2022,” another person commented.

“I will be watching the hell out of that,” someone else said.
