Real Estate Listing is Asking $430,000 for a House That’s About to Fall Off a Cliff

The saying goes that one of the most important aspects of real estate is location, location, location. That means that where a huge is located can make a home is located can make a huge difference on how quickly it sells and how much it costs. If you look at real estate for sale in different areas, it’s easy to see how true this is. For example, a beach front home in Malibu is going to cost a lot more than the same size house in the country.

It’s easy to think that any house with a good view and convenient beach access would sell quickly and for a high price, but that is not always the case. For example, we found one real estate listing with impressive views of Lake Michigan, yet, we’re not sure who would want to live there.

The house looks pretty good on the inside. It has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms and 1550 square feet. The asking price is $430,000 which doesn’t sound too bad for a water view, over 11 acres of land and a house that looks move in ready.

The listing agent describes the home as a “unique offering” with “sweeping Lake Michigan frontage.” These sound like big selling points.

In addition, the listing agent mentioned that there are 5 adjacent parcels that are also for sale, so someone who is looking for a lot of land all with “sweeping Lake Michigan frontage” is in luck.

You might be wondering why this house is still for sale after 215 days on the market. The answer becomes pretty easy when you see what this home looks like from the backyard.

Yes, sweeping ocean views, but that doesn’t exactly look safe. There at least needs to be some sort of guard rail to keep kids and dogs from falling off the cliff. And, what’s the deal with the rope? Are you supposed to pull yourself up if you fall off?

It’s no surprise that the listing agent doesn’t exactly mention the proximity to the edge of a cliff in the write up, yet, pictures don’t lie.

Would you ever consider buying a home that’s so close to the edge of a cliff?
