Hotel Guests Forced to Leave Pool Area After Bullying Kissing Women
The hotel guests who had a problem with the women in the pool kissing didn’t seem to have a problem with any other form of PDA that was happening in the swimming pool among heterosexual guests. However, they asked the women to stop kissing and used that excuse that “there are children present.”
The moms that complained about the kissing claim that it had nothing to do with race. Even though most of the women were white, they seemed uncomfortable with the fact that lesbians were kissing in front of children. Eventually, the moms left while other hotel guests chanted “shame.”
Domonique Veasley is one of the women who was kissing in the pool. She explained to CBS Sacramento, “My initial reaction for the children was ‘Oh yeah, and then I was like ‘You are asking me to stop being me.” She added, “It would’ve been a beautiful moment for her to teach about love to her kids but instead she decided to sexualize two women. This is not okay anymore, it’s 2021.” Veasley was glad that the other hotel guests took her side and defended her.
Alex Sanchez is the director of advocacy and training at Sacramento LGBT Community Center. She agrees that the moms could have used this as a teaching moment for their children. She suggests asking your children, “How did it make you feel when you saw two people of the same sex kissing?”
