Hoda Reveals Why She And Fiance Split Up
Hoda Kotb and her ex Joel Schiffman dated for 8 years and were even engaged to be married. During their relationship, they also adopted two daughters together, Haley, who is currently 7 years old, and Hope, who is four years old.
Unfortunately, Kotb and Schiffman never ended up getting married. E! News reports that the couple got engaged in 2019; however, the engagement latest for over two years but never led to a wedding. In 2022, the couple announced that instead of walking down the aisle, they were splitting up.

Now, about 2 and a half years later, the Kotb is shedding some light on her current relationship with Schiffman and what ultimately led to their breakup.
On a recent episode of The Jamie Kern Lima Show, Kotb opened up about personal experiences in her life including adopting her daughters and deciding to break up with Schiffman.
While they are no longer together, it sounds like Kotb and Schiffman are on good terms. Kotb shared, “Joel is one of the best people I know, and he really is a great human being.” She added, “And I feel like I’m a pretty great human being, but sometimes two great human beings together isn’t quite enough to make it work.”
Lima asked Kotb if the inner work and growth she experiencing in 2021 was part of what led to her split from her ex, and Kotb agreed that was probably the case. She explained, “When people are growing at different paces it’s hard to be in sync, and I think a lot of people are probably in these situations.”

While Kotb isn’t dating anyone at this moment, she shared that she knows there will be a romantic relationship in her life in the future. She explained, “When I close my eyes and I envision the romantic part of my life, I can see it very clearly.” She added, “I know it is coming for me.”
Kotb went on to explain that one reason she knows she will have romance in the future is that when the right person comes along, he will meet the real, authentic person she is and “not the version that you might want, or not the version that I’ll twist a little bit to fit your needs or what is appealing to you. This is who I am.”
While she claims she can picture the future relationship, she also shared that doesn’t mean that she knows what he will look like. In fact, she said she doesn’t care what he looks like. She said, “I know the essence, and I can sense the soul of that person.”
