Hoda Reveals the Mystery Behind Why She Was Missing from TODAY Last Week

If you watch NBC’s TODAY show on a regular basis, you know that you can always expect to see Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager co-anchoring the show at 10am each weekday morning. However, Kotb was noticeably missing from the show last week. Where was she?

On today’s broadcast of Hoda & Jenna, Kotb explained to Hager that she was at a retreat for 10 days. While she was there, she made a few changes to her life, and she plans on sticking with one of those changes long term.

Kotb explained, “I went to this retreat where they take your phone away — that was one of the things.” Then she went on to explain that she plans on trying to minimize how often she uses her phone.

Many of us may not want to admit it, but we might be addicted to our phones. If you have your phone with you all the time, panic if you don’t know where your phone is and frequently check your phone when you hear a notification, only to find yourself distracted by other headlines and apps pulling for your attention, you just might be addicted to your phone.

We get it. There is a lot that can be done on modern day smart phones. They are so much more than a way to call someone. We can take pictures, do research, go shopping, make reservations, order dinner, catch up on social media, look at the latest news headlines and so much more.

After going phone free for 10 days, Kotb noticed right away that everyone in the real world seems to be hunched over looking at their phone. She knew she had to make a decision about whether or not she would go back to her old phone habits, so she asked herself a question. Watch the video below to find out what Kotb asked, and how her answer has impacted her life so far.

Do you think you’re addicted to your phone? Would you be willing to give up your phone for 10 days? What do you usually use your phone to do?
