A hockey coach in Canada mic’d up his 4-year-old son to ‘understand what he was doing out there,’ and the results are adorable

Jeremy Rupke lives in Northern Ontario with his 4-year-old son, Mason. Jeremy is known as “Coach Jeremy” on YouTube, and what does he coach? Hockey. Of course, he had to get his son in on the action, so Mason has been goes to hockey practice.

Have you ever been ice-skating? Getting your balance on blades doesn’t exactly come naturally. It takes a lot of practice.

Mason has been practicing a lot, but when he’s on the ice, Jeremy saw him doing a lot of antics that he found a little confusing. He was wondering what on earth was going through his son’s mind when he was on the ice, so he decided to mic him up. Oh, and he recorded a video too.

Without the audio, Mason’s behavior really is confusing. At times, he seems to be doing what he’s supposed to be doing (skating), but at other times he’s doing things you wouldn’t expect someone to do on the ice, like crawling, laying down and hitting his hockey stick against another friend’s stick.

What was this behavior all about? Well, the hitting sticks together part was a “sword fight.” The laying down on the ice was “taking a nap.” The crawling? It seems that he just discovered that he could crawl on the ice and found it fun.

Jeremy uploaded the video with the mic’d audio on YouTube, and it has already been viewed over 3 million times. As he says in the comments, “I guess I should make another one?”

He also uploaded a shorter version of the video on Twitter where it has also received over 3 million views and been retweeted almost 28,000 times. It’s safe to say that this video is a hit!

See what the fuss is all about. Watch the full video below.

What was your favorite line from the video? Some of the favorites over on Twitter seem to be “let’s nap” and “I’m lost.”

Over on YouTube, some commenters think Jeremy did a good job showing what really goes on in the mind of a 4-year-old. One commenter wrote, “I feel like I just entered into the mind of my four year old son…… And now I suddenly understand what truly goes on in there. Thank you for the enlightenment!!! LOL!  He laid down on the ice this morning too, now I understand. He was just taking a nap. Lol.”

Have you ever found the things your kids did when they were little terribly confusing?
