Griswold Family Reunites for a Wholesome Christmas Commercial

Ford Motor Company

One thing that makes us dislike watching live TV is having to sit through all the commercials. It often seems that the same commercials are played over and over again, which can make them pretty boring. Especially with options like commercial-free streaming services and the ability to skip commercials with On Demand, it’s pretty easy to avoid watching commercials entirely.

Some commercials are worth watching. Some commercials really stand out due to their exceptional creativity. Sometimes we watch a commercial all by itself with no reason at all except that it’s exceptional and we want to show it to all of our friends. Sure, the product they’re advertising is pretty cool, but besides that, the commercial itself is quite special.

In this case, we’re talking about a car commercial. Typically in December we expect car commercials to include someone giving a car to someone else as a gift. Most likely there’s a huge bow on top of the car. That’s not the case in this commercial, not the case at all.

If you’re a fan of the hilarious holiday movie, “Christmas Vacation,” you’re going to love this car commercial. The cast reunited to reenact one of the most iconic scenes from the movie, the scene where Clark Griswald, played by Chevy Chase, tries and fails to turn on the outdoor Christmas lights.

We don’t want to give too much away because this commercial is amazing, and we want you to enjoy it as much as we did the first, second, and sixth time we watched it. Enjoy. You can watch “Electri-Vacation, starring the Griswolds” below.

Viewers are loving this nostalgic commercial that’s advertising a very modern product. One viewer wrote, “Wholesome and nostalgic.”

Another comment reads, “Welcome back Clark W. Griswold.”

Other viewers wish more members of the original cast had come back for this reunion. “Aw, I was hoping Randy Quaid was gonna do a cameo as cousin Eddie in the last part of the scene: ‘It’s beautiful Clark! Beautiful!'”

If you haven’t seen the original movie, you probably don’t understand the appeal of this commercial. Trust us; the movie is worth watching.
