“My Nervous System Couldn’t Take It Anymore”: Gisele Opens Up About Suicidal Thoughts

Supermodel Gisele Bündchen does not miss modeling. In fact, she shared some surprising facts about herself and her life in a recent interview with CBS This Morning. The interview partly took place in one of the place she likes to go when she wants to get away from it all – Costa Rica. During the interview, Bündchen opened up about her life, her divorce and the highs and lows of it all.

Bündchen explained, “I’m in a different place in my life. I’m able to choose more of what I want. I think before I was more surviving, and now living, which is different.”

Bündchen has been in the spotlight for most of her life, but even though she still has the looks for modeling, she has chosen to step back from the modeling industry. She’s a mother of two, and she has changed her priorities.

She explained that she was never hired for a modeling job because of who she was, but she was hired because “they liked the way I looked and they liked the way my body looked in clothes, I guess.” Now, she wants the world to actually see “her true self.”

Moving beyond the modeling industry and embracing her current moment in life, Bündchen is happy that now, at age 43, “I get to be me.” Surprisingly, Bündchen is actually an introvert, and it was “a very challenging thing” for her to be a model and in the spotlight.

Her career was challenging for her in multiple ways. She knew people thought “she has everything,” but that didn’t change the fact that she was dealing with anxiety. She describes not being able to breath and feeling “suffocated.” She felt like “I don’t want to live like this.”

Eventually, Bündchen knew she needed to make some changes. Instead of caffeine, sugar and alcohol, she wakes up early and meditates in the morning. She explains that by the time she met Tom Brady, she was “happy and healthy.”

Bündchen doesn’t miss being in the spotlight. Instead, she loves being able to be there for her children. While she never imagined getting divorced, she still wishes her ex “the best” and says she’s “grateful that he gave me wonderful children.”
