Country music star Garth Brooks recently started his Las Vegas residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace. Prior to the first show, he sat down with Good Morning America’s Will Reeve to discuss the residency.

While all of the 2023 dates for Brooks’ show have sold out, fans should still have a chance to see Brooks in Las Vegas. He said, “I plan on being here ’til they throw me out, so we’ll see how long that is.”

If you do make it to Las Vegas to see Brooks, be aware that the show doesn’t allow phones or video recording devices. While this may be disappointing to some fans, it can also allow fans to preview music Brooks is working on. He called the show “a laboratory.” With the no phone policy, he said it “makes me go, ‘Here’s a song I was working on today.'”

While shows are quickly selling out because fans want to see Brooks perform, they are also in for a surprise treat. The show is called “Garth Brooks Plus One” because each show will feature a surprise performer taking the stage with Brooks. While fans won’t know ahead of time who the plus one will be, one possibility is Brooks’ wife, Trisha Yearwood.

Before Brooks was married to Yearwood, he was married to Sandy Mahl, and they had three children together, Taylor, August and Allie. During an interview with Billboard, Brooks explained that being a good dad and husband didn’t come naturally. It wasn’t easy for him at first. 

Brooks explained, “I sucked at being a husband, I was horrible at it. I was horrible at being a dad. I had to get my s##t together.” He added, “I was on the front page of the USA Today for being a bad husband and man.” Brooks is thankful that this was at a time before social media. He said, “I’d have never survived that if there had been social media, ever.”

Brooks and Yearwood have now been married for over 20 years. Brooks credits their long-lasting relationship to being with the right person for him. As for Yearwood, she called every day with Brooks “a first date.”
