‘Game of Thrones’ Counseling is Actually a Thing and Is Available to Fans for $50 Per Hour

Need help navigating the emotional aftermath of Game of Thrones? There’s help for that. Counseling sessions are now being offered for fans who just can’t deal.

After a controversial final season and hotly debated series finale, some superfans need an outlet for their feelings. Where social media can’t help, counselors can. Bark.com, a UK-based site, is providing the service for those who have post-GOT issues, including grief.

Although they are based in the UK, the site matches people up with counselors based on zip codes. If you visit the Bark.com page for Game of Thrones, you’ll find this description of the specialized service:

“Fans can speak to qualified counsellors (who are familiar with the series) to discuss plot twists and storylines. The professionals will help them digest their feelings and interpretation of the show, which could range from anger and confusion to sadness and grief. Most importantly the counsellors will be on hand to guide fans on how to move on after almost a decade of fandom.”

Once you punch in your zip code, you’ll need to fill out a small questionnaire based on the nature of your Game of Thrones mental health related need. You choose from a list issues such as plot holes, character deaths, Cleganebowl, or “Dealing with David Benioff & Daniel Weiss’s writing decisions.”

Fees range from 20£ for 30 minutes (about $25 USD) to 40£ ($50 USD) for a one-hour session. In addition to that, the company is accepting applications from professional counselors.

Based on fan attachment and some of the passionate reactions to the show’s final run, this may actually be a good thing for some people. If you need help processing things, why not?

Would you sign up for one of these sessions? What do you think about such a service being offered?
