When He Dumped 3 Pounds Of Onions In The Pan, I Was Sure I’d Hate It— But What He Makes Is A Delicious Classic

What calls for three pounds of onions, six garlic cloves, white wine and two kinds of broth, and is still somehow delicious? This classic French dish! It calls for a crazy amount of onions and takes a while to make, but wow, is it worth it! Feeling skeptical? I was too, until I watched this full tutorial from the Cooking With Jack Show.

Obviously, this recipe calls for so much more than three pounds of onions. Here’s the full list:

You’ll Need

– 1/4 cup butter
– 3 pounds onions, sliced (about 6 onions)
– 6 garlic cloves, sliced
– 1/2 cup dry white wine
– 3 cups canned low-salt chicken broth
– 3 cups canned beef broth
– 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
– 4 sourdough bread slices, toasted
– 1 cup grated Swiss cheese
– 1/2 cup grated Parmesan
