Did you know that today is a national holiday? While it may not be Christmas or even Memorial Day, it is a day that we would still consider very important. It’s National Doughnut Day!

National Doughnut Day dates back to World War I when the Chicago Salvation Army decided to honor women who gave doughnuts to soldiers who were serving their country.

Normally, doughnuts may seem like a breakfast food, but we’ve honestly always been a little confused about that. There doesn’t seem to be a lot that separates a doughnut from a cookie or a cupcake. We think a doughnut is a delicious treat any time of day.

One thing that makes today extra special is that many popular doughnut chains are giving away free doughnuts!

At Dunkin Donuts, you can get a free doughnut with any beverage purchase on June 5, 2020. If you want your doughnuts delivered, GrubHub will give you a free half-dozen doughnuts with a purchase of $10 or more on June 6th and 7th! Sounds like we need to order more than one latte!

While Dunkin’ locations are currently not open for dine-in service, customers can choose from drive-thru, take out, delivery and curbside pickup options.

Krispy Kreme has been giving away doughnuts all week. Today, June 5th, is the last day of their National Doughnut Week, but it’s not too late to get your free doughnuts! No purchase necessary. Just head on over and pick up your free doughnut! There is a limit of on free doughnut per person per day.

Other popular chains are also offering free doughnuts today including Winchell’s and Yum Yum Donuts where you can get a free doughnut with purchase.
