The Foolproof Eyeshadow Trick Everybody Should Try!
Let’s face it, we’re not all born with shimmery lids, dark lashes, and wide, bright eyes. I mean, who really is? That’s why I love taking advantage of my absolute favorite beauty tool: eyeshadow. And even though a good palette is on the top of my “desert island beauty list”, it’s fair to say that my application is generally spotty as best.
That’s why I turned to the beauty guru of the moment, YouTuber Wayne Goss, to get his take on how to best achieve perfect shadow. In his clip, he introduces the concept of “baking” to his viewers. Now, I had come across this particular method a couple of times before, but it always seemed too involved for me to want to try on my own.
Luckily, Wayne really changed my mind about this form of powdering—it’s really much simpler than I had originally thought! Here’s how to get started.
Extend the tail of your eyebrow
Grab your favorite brow pencil and fill in any areas that may be patchy or lighter than desired. Once completed, go ahead and extend the tail of your brow a centimeter or two at most. The goal here isn’t to give you lengthier brows per se, it’s all about creating a guideline for the upcoming powdering process.
Bake, bake, bake!
Dip either a powder puff or sponge into some finely milled translucent powder—that’s the white kind! Then, dot a very generous amount between the outside corner of your eye, working it diagonally up to your temple. If you notice that some of the residue is falling, simply tap off the excess with your finger.
Apply your shadow
Here is where this technique really starts cookin’! Brush on some of your chosen shadow, starting at the crease and working outward. Now, be sure that you are not hitting that white streak of powder to the side of your eye. You can think of this area as a sort of boundary—no shadow shall pass!
Remove the powder
Once all of the shadow is to your liking, take a soft fan brush to gently buff away the translucent powder—it’s that simple!
I absolutely love this way of applying shadow because it essentially kills two birds with one stone. As Wayne says, “It [the powder] sort of ‘cooks’ and enables you to get the most beautiful highlight, but it also is this wonderful guideline, which is why I use it so often.” How cool is that?
Now, though we fully stand by this makeup method, it can be a little tricky, so we want to make sure that you learn all of the details before you try this one out for yourself. Watch Wayne Goss’ video below to see exactly how he achieves this one-of-a-kind look. Get ready to receive lots of compliments on those peepers!
