Florida Man Struggling to Care for His Family Wins $1 Million on a Single Scratch-Off Ticket

This year has been difficult for a lot of people. The pandemic has brought more than health issues. Many people have also found themselves out of work due to business closures and lack of business.

When times are tough, it can be fun to daydream about an easy solution to financial problems. More than once we’ve imagined what we would do if we won the lottery. For some people, it might be traveling or buying expensive cars. For other people, it might be helping out family and friends. Yet, there are other people who would use the money to pay for their current expenses.

Albert Pike was struggling to pay the bills. He didn’t know what he was going to go and was considering making some difficult decisions. Then, something amazing happened.

Pike bought a $30 lottery ticket in the “THE FASTEST ROAD TO $1,000,000” scratch off game. Some people might think that was a waste of $30, especially when money’s tight and you don’t have money to waste. It definitely paid off for Pike.

The 67-year-old man bought the lottery ticket from a store in South Pasadena, California, but he is a resident of St. Petersburg, Florida, and he didn’t scratch off the ticket until he returned home. When he scratched off the ticket and saw the winning lottery numbers, he couldn’t believe his eyes. That $30 lottery ticket was actually a winner. Pike had just won the $1 million prize!

Pike told the Florida Lottery, “When I got home and saw the winning numbers, I couldn’t believe it. I knew right then that I wouldn’t have to worry about how to pay for the things we need.”

In order to pay his family’s bills, Pike decided to take the lottery payment in one lump sum of $790,000. The store where he bought the lottery ticket will also receive a $2000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.

According to the Florida Lottery, the odds of winning “THE FASTEST ROAD TO $1,000,000” game are 1 in 270,717. Including Pike, 61 people have won the $1 million prize, but there are still 94 tickets worth $1 million yet to be purchased. Besides the $1 million tickets, there are many other prizes to be won including 6 $100,000 tickets and 406 $20,000 tickets. The overall odds of winning any prize at all is 1 in 2.79 which doesn’t seem that bad for a lottery ticket.

The “THE FASTEST ROAD TO $1,000,000″ is a scratch off game that started on February 24, 2020. There is no set end date or required redemption date. It seems that the game will go until all the tickets have been sold and the prizes have been redemed.

What would you do if you won $1 million? Have you ever bought a ticket for “THE FASTEST ROAD TO $1,000,000” game?
