Many products that we buy for our home include user manuals. We’ve filed away user manuals for everything from small appliances to kids’ toys and countless IKEA products.

In many of these cases, the products seem to need the user manual. Inside, there is important information like assembly instructions, how to clean the product and possibly even some how-to-use tips that you wouldn’t otherwise know.

Have you ever bought a product that didn’t come with a user manual but you wish it had? We can’t think of one off the top of our heads…until now.

We wish ice-cube trays came with user manuals.

Now, stay with us. We know you’re supposed to fill an ice-cube tray with water and then put it in the freezer. We know that if you want to be fancy, you can even fill an ice-cube tray with something besides water, like fruit juice.

You probably think you know how to use an ice-cube tray, and honestly, we did too. Like we just said, fill with water and freeze. It’s not that complicated, right?

Well, it can be messy. Have you ever filled an ice-cube tray and had a hard time getting water evenly in ever section of the tray? Have you ever had water splatter all over the place while you try to fill the tray? Just us? That’s why we need a user manual.

We don’t have a user manual, but we do have a TikTok video, and that’s even better. TikTok user @4jmjcbitxh shared a super easy way to fill an ice-cube tray so that every section is filled perfectly with water, and it’s not messy at all.

Her trick involves using the flat spots on the ice-cube tray. Have you ever wondered what those were for? Watch the video below to see how easy it is to fill an ice-cube tray by using the flat spots on the tray.

Brilliant, right? Just pour the water onto the flat spot, and it fills the four sections around it. Move on to another flat spot to fill four more sections, and continue until you’re done. We wish we had known this years ago!

TikTok users are raving about this tip. One viewer wrote, “I was today years old when I learned this.” Same. Did you know what the flat spots on an ice-cube tray were for before you watched this video?
