Before the news was made public, Los Angeles radio station KCSN shared a hint that something was seriously wrong. The network, which hosted a show called “Afternoons with Matt Pinfield,” announced on Facebook, “The legendary DJ of SoCal Sound, Matt Pinfield, is taking a temporary leave of absence.”

The announcement continued, “We fully support Matt and look forward to having him back on the air with his deep rock knowledge soon.”

TMZ reports that Pinfield’s daughter, Jessica, has filed for a temporary conservatorship for her father. According to court documents obtained by the outlet, Pinfield is currently not capable of making financial and medical decisions.

Jessica is requesting the conservatorship because she’s worried that Pinfield’s girlfriend, who has access to his accounts, will drain his accounts while he’s in the hospital.

The New York Post reports that Pinfield has had multiple health scares over the years. He has openly shared his struggles with substance abuse as well as heart issues. This led to time in rehab back in 2017. Then, one year later in 2018, he was hit by a car and suffered from a broken leg and multiple lacerations.

Back in the 1990s, Pinfield appeared on “The Real World” which led to hosting “120 Minutes” on MTV. Then, from 2001 to 2006, he was president of A&R at Columbia Records. He has also gone on to host a number of TV and radio shows.
