Fan Throws Object at Billie Eilish During Concert Performance and Hits Her Right in the Face

Billie Eilish faced an unexpected and unsettling moment during her performance at the Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, Arizona, on December 13.

While sitting cross-legged on stage and singing her Oscar-winning song “What Was I Made For?” from the Barbie movie soundtrack, a fan threw an object at the 22-year-old singer, hitting her right in the face.

The object, which appeared to be a bracelet, startled Eilish as she flinched and turned her head away from the crowd. Fan footage shared on TikTok captured the tense moment, showing the audience gasping and booing in response to the incident.

Despite the disruption, Eilish continued her performance, tossing the object aside casually and maintaining her composure.

This isn’t the first time Eilish has been struck by objects thrown from the crowd. During the Barbie world premiere in July 2023, the singer opened up about the dangerous trend of fans tossing things at performers.

“I’ve been getting hit on stage for literally six years,” she told The Hollywood Reporter, urging fans not to throw items. “People just get excited, and it can be dangerous,” she explained.

Although Eilish acknowledged that fans’ actions often come from a place of love and excitement, she made it clear how frustrating and unsafe it can be.

“It’s absolutely infuriating when you’re up there,” she added. “I have mixed feelings about it because when you’re up there, it blows. But you know it’s out of love, and they’re just trying to give you something. You’re in a vulnerable position, but I’ve been getting hit with stuff for years.”

Eilish’s experience follows a disturbing trend where several performers have faced similar incidents in recent years. Celebrities such as Wiz Khalifa, Nicki Minaj, and Harry Styles have all been hit by objects during their live performances.

Pink was left shocked in June 2023 when a fan threw ashes onto the stage at BST Hyde Park in London, while Bebe Rexha was struck by a phone, leaving her with a black eye at The Rooftop at Pier 17.

Despite these unsettling events, Eilish continues her Hit Me Hard and Soft tour, which began in late September. After wrapping up her North American shows, she is set to take her tour to Europe and Australia starting in February 2024.

Fans attending concerts are urged to be mindful of the safety and well-being of performers. While the enthusiasm for live music is undoubtedly high, it’s important to remember that the safety of both artists and audience members must always come first.
