A year ago, Stephen tWitch Boss took his own life leaving behind his wife, Allison Holker and three children. tWitch was best known as the DJ on Ellen DeGeneres’s long-running daytime talk show, and now, one year after his death, in honor of what would have been his 41st birthday, DeGeneres is remembering her former coworker and long-time friend.
On Instagram, DeGeneres posted a throwback photo of herself and tWitch on what looks like an airplane. She kept the message in the caption simple, writing, “Happy birthday, tWitch. I love you and I always will.”
DeGeneres appreciated tWitch, his talent, his friendship and his contributions to her show long before his death at an early age. A year ago, after tWitch’s death, she posted a video from her talk show where she brought tWitch on stage to share some of his best moments from her show. She said, “Over a decade ago, I met someone who changed my life and our show.” That someone was tWitch.
tWitch’s family is also remembering him on his birthday. On Instagram, Holker shared multiple photos of herself and her three children at her late husband’s grave. She captioned the post, “We honor our beautiful, sweet, kind and loving Stephen tWitch Laurel Boss. Forever on our hearts and minds carrying us, guiding us and lifting us. We feel your presence every day and will forever be grateful for the beautiful times we shared together. We feel your arms wrapping around us and holding us up on this day. Happy birthday my love @sir_twitch_alot a day we will always celebrate the gift you were and still are to this world. We love you!”
