This Dog Carrying His Food to the Sofa So He Can Eat in Comfort Is All Of Us

2020 has really got us all beat. From the COVID-19 pandemic to murder hornets and all of the craziness in between, we can’t help but just want to surrender this year altogether and lie on the couch until this is all over.

Who’s with us? Apparently not just humans…it’s dogs too. Sure, we all know that dogs can feel humanlike traits, but one dog, in particular, is really mimicking a similar emotion to what we’re all feeling. And it’s both sad and amazing all at the same time.

In a recent video, the dog, a regal basset hound named Murphy was seen taking his entire bowl of kibble from the kitchen all the way to the couch, just so he could eat in comfort. Who wants to eat on the floor when you’ve got a comfy couch just steps away?

In the video, Murphy is seen with the bowl, filled with food, in his mouth, carefully carrying it into the living room without dropping a single piece. He hops up onto the sectional, bowl still in his mouth, and makes his way into a comfy little crevice where he lays down and begins to eat, flat on his tummy.

What can we say? He is truly our kindred spirit (except the only difference is that we totally would’ve dropped our food onto the couch).

We’re not the only ones who love Murphy. The 20-second video went viral, with more than 2.4 million views and over 20,000 comments on TikTok and over 140,000 likes and 30,000 retweets on Twitter.

“I, uh, previously thought the idea of ‘spirit animal’ was stupid and some human insecurity projection. Upon further reflection, I aspire to Basset Hound,” someone commented.

“This is me coming home from work,” another person joked.

“He’s gonna be upset when he realized he forgot the remote,” another replied.

Accurate!
