Dr. Oz Highlights the Difference in Scans Between Healthy Lungs, Smokers’ Lungs and COVID Lungs

In the past year, we’ve learned a lot about COVID-19. We’ve also learned that we didn’t know very much about it in the beginning of 2020.

At first, it seemed that there were only a few symptoms of COVID-19, and we thought that everyone who got it had those symptoms. For example, originally we were told there were only three symptoms: fever, cough and shortness of breath. The CDC kept adding symptoms along the way, and we now know that while some people have extreme symptoms, many others don’t have any symptoms at all.

While there is still a lot to learn about COVID-19, if you are a visual learner, Dr. Oz has a very easy way for us to learn how severe this virus really is.

We know that smoking is bad for our lungs. We have seen images of healthy lungs verses a smoker’s lungs before. We know it’s not pretty, but Dr. Oz decided to take it one step further. He’s showing us what COVID-19 does to the lungs.

Although COVID-19 symptoms have changed, the original three have remained consistent. Many people do have a fever, cough and shortness of breath. The image Dr. Oz shares of a COVID patient’s lungs make it clear exactly why it can be so difficult to breath while fighting the virus. Watch the video below to see for yourself.

When we understand what COVID-19 can do to our lungs, it makes us want to be more careful than ever to prevent getting and spreading the virus. In order to do that, we need to keep doing everything we’ve been doing since the beginning of the pandemic – avoiding crowds, washing our hands, wearing a face mask (or two) and social distancing. Of course, you can also get vaccinated when the vaccine is available to you.

Does it surprise you that COVID-19 has such a big impact on the lungs?
