Art Evans, the versatile actor celebrated for his portrayal of Leslie Barnes in Die Hard 2, has passed away at the age of 82. Evans died on December 21, 2024, due to complications from diabetes, according to his wife, Babe Evans.
“Art was not only an incredible actor but a devoted husband, friend, and source of light to everyone who knew him,” she said in a statement shared with Entertainment Weekly. “His laughter, passion, and love of life will be deeply missed. While our hearts are heavy, we celebrate the legacy of joy and inspiration he leaves behind.”
Art Evans was Born on March 27, 1942, in Berkeley, California, Evans possessed a natural talent for acting that he nurtured through stage performances before transitioning to film and television.
Evans began his career in theater, honing his craft in various productions before making his on-screen debut in the 1970s. His early roles in films like A Piece of the Action (1977) and Car Wash (1976) showcased his ability to bring humor and depth to his characters. His big break came in the 1980s, with memorable performances in films such as A Soldier’s Story (1984) and Fright Night (1985), where he demonstrated his versatility as both a dramatic and comedic actor.
