Delivery Drivers Get Treated to Couple’s Leftover Snacks After Cancelled Wedding

Ah, it’s the most wonderful time of the year…for packages. Especially in 2020, online sales have skyrocketed and people much prefer “adding to cart” vs. heading to a crowded mall to get their holiday gift shopping done.

While online shopping makes things easier for us, it does increase the work for delivery drivers. These truck drivers are working day and night to deliver us our gifts in a timely manner, and we rarely even get to say thank you as they typically leave with, at most, a knock on the door and a bolt out of your front yard.

Lately, people have been showing their gratitude for delivery drivers by leaving a basket full of goodies out near their front door for them. The idea is to show them a little love—letting them grab a snack, a drink, or whatever else—as a thank you for all that they do.

You’d be surprised how much a small gesture like this can mean to someone who rarely gets an praise. Not can their job be exhausting, but they don’t even get very many breaks to grab themselves something to eat or drink.

One Chicago couple, Brad and Britney, recently had to cancel their wedding because of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, in hopes that they’d still be able to have it, they bought a bunch of snacks for their guests’ goodie bags.

Since they were all going to go to waste, they decided to set it out for the delivery people who they knew would be coming to their home quite frequently in the next few days and weeks.

“We knew we were going to be getting a lot of packages from our wedding registry from the bridal shower and the wedding and we just wanted to do something nice,” Britney explained.

Out with the snacks, they left a sign that said, “We appreciate what you do this time oof year! Please help yourself to some holiday cheer.”

There were boatloads of delicious snacks awaiting each and every delivery driver—from Cheetos to Nutter Butters, Chips Ahoy and Oreos, plus drinks too.

Each worker who stopped to drop a package off was more grateful than the next. In fact, Brad and Britney’s home camera even captured some of their reactions—and they’re truly the sweetest.
