‘Dawson’s Creek’ Actor Passed Away, At 51

Obi Ndefo, an actor who played Bodie on Dawson’s Creek and Stargate SG-1, passed away. 

He was 51.

His sister made an announcement of Obi’s death on Facebook on August 31. She wrote, “Heartbroken at the loss of my younger brother 💔 and knowing he’s finally at peace ❤️‍🩹🕊️✨.”

There were no cause of death details provided.

Back in 2019, Obi lost both of his legs in a hit and run incident. The actor was putting his groceries into his car at an L.A. grocery store when an SUV moved from its lane and hit him. The impact of the crash resulted in the loss of both of his legs. The hit and run driver was later arrested by the LAPD. The driver was also charged with a DUI.

Obi was a yoga loving, compassionate, peace loving vegan. In an article about Obi the Los Angeles Times described him as a “6-foot-4 paragon of fitness.”

Obi wanted to use his tragedy as a way to help others. His focus was “hope and optimism as a means of survival, he told the Los Angeles Times, “This is just so horrendous what happened to me, why would I compound this by feeling bad about it? 

In 2020, Obi and two others set up a GoFundMe page to cover the costs of his prosthetic legs, hospital costs not covered by insurance and remodeling of his home to make it more wheelchair accessible.

Obi Ndefo was an American actor, writer, and advocate. Born in the United States to parents with  Nigerian and Jewish American roots. He attended the Yale School of Drama, one of the most prestigious drama schools in the world.

Obi Ndefo was most known for his role as Bodhi on the popular television show Dawson’s Creek. Dawson’s Creek, which aired from 1998 to 2003. It was a teen drama that followed the lives of a group of friends in the fictional town of Capeside, Massachusetts. The show became very popular and launched the careers of several actors.

He also appeared in Stargate SG-1 and had appearances in various other popular TV shows such as Angel, The West Wing, and NCIS.
