Dad’s Parody of Adele’s ‘Hello’ Is Nailing All of Our Feelings About Social Distancing Right Now

For nearly a month now, the United States has been dealing with the ramifications that the coronavirus outbreak has set upon us. Just a few weeks ago, there were only a handful of cases, but that has since erupted into a pandemic—and a lot of panic.

If you’re feeling anxious, scared and frustrated in light of what’s going on in the world, you’re not alone. In fact, it’s completely normal to feel this way. The unemployment rate is sky high, the stock market is down low, and the kids are watching Frozen 2 for the umpteenth time.

And, oh yeah, we have to carry on like this for at least another month, if not more so.

Well, we wanted to break up some of the dire news reports in your feed to bring you what will sure to be the best four minutes and 51 seconds of your day—thanks to one hilarious dad named Chris Mann.

Like all of us, Chris has been maintaining the rules of social distancing in order to help slow the spread of coronavirus. However, while he’s doing a good deed for humanity, it doesn’t mean he’s happy about it.

You see, Chris is pretty bored and tired of being stuck inside all day. Sure, it’s great to see his son all day, but he was really missing the normalcy of his daily life. Just little things, like being able to go out to eat or even being able to walk up to his neighbors house to say hi. These are all but luxuries now.

As a former contestant on ‘The Voice,’ Chris does have something going for him that we all might not have: A great singing voice. And in the midst of all that’s going on (and a load of free time he suddenly had), he decided to record a little song for all of us to enjoy.

And enjoy it we did. The song, which parallels the tune of Adele’s “Hello,” is referred to as an “Adele pandemic parody”—and talks of what it’s like “from the inside,” not the outside, as the original song goes.

For a little sneak peak, the chorus goes something like, “”Hello from the inside / It’s just me and myself and I…”

The lyrics are spot on and the video itself is nothing short of amazing. Chris is pressed up against the glass of his window, ever so desperately trying to make contact with the outside world.

It’s so relatable, frankly, it hurts. Check out the amazing video below.

How funny—and true—is this video? What activities that Chris mentioned in the song can you not wait to do once this pandemic is over?
