Being a parent is often an on-the-job learning experience. Sure, you can read the baby books and listen to advice from well-meaning family and friends, but there are some situations you just have to experience for yourself.

Often times, when parents post pictures of their kids on social media they only post the best moments. For example, everyone is smiling or looking happy. Parenthood can look particularly magical and even easy if you’re basing your impression of it entirely on the pictures people post.

While a picture may be worth a thousand words, it definitely doesn’t tell the whole story. By definition, it is only a  snapshot. You might be surprised what the reality is like. There could have been a huge meltdown immediately after the picture was taken. It could have been pure chaos trying to get everyone to look at the camera for the perfect picture.

A dad named Simon posts a lot of family pictures on Instagram, but what sets him apart is that he doesn’t just post perfect family pictures. Instead, he posts pictures of the chaos and the reality of what parenting is really like. He has four daughters, and as his photos show, being the only man in a house full of estrogen is quite an interesting challenge.
