Courtney Love has announced she is becoming a British citizen, citing concerns over Donald Trump’s potential return to the White House as a key factor in her decision.
The 60-year-old singer joins a growing list of celebrities who have left the U.S. in anticipation of a Trump presidency. Among those who have reportedly moved to the UK are Ellen DeGeneres and her wife Portia de Rossi, designer Tom Ford, and actors Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes.
Additionally, actress America Ferrera is rumored to have relocated to the UK, while Eva Longoria has reportedly moved to Spain.
According to the Daily Mail, while speaking at the Royal Geographical Society in London, she stated, “I’m really glad to be here.”
“It’s so great to live here. I’m finally getting my British citizenship in six months. I get to be a citizen – I’m applying, man! Can’t get rid of me!” the singer said.
“Emperor-core is going on at Mar-a-Lago. It’s frightening now. It’s like cyanide now.”
She added, “I know what neighbourhood I’m going to end up in, and I know that I want to be on the Thames. I subscribe to this magazine called Country Life, which is just real-estate porn and fox hunting. It’s amazing.”
