This Cake is Sure to Please Your Holiday Guests

There are lots of sweet treats out there for the holidays, and while we all love a good dose of light and sugary every once and a while, what we really want when the temperatures drop is a dessert that’s rich, warm, and filling. For that we turn to Nigella Lawson, who’s stopping by the FAB Life Show to demonstrate how to make the perfect cold-weather cake: a Cider and Five-Spice Bundt! We love it pretty immediately, but once she tops it with salted caramel sauce, we’re running to our kitchens to try it. Watch and see if you feel the same!

You’ll Need

– 1 cup cider (preferably dry or at least not sweet)
– 3/4 cup vegetable oil
– 1/2 cup soft dark brown sugar
– 1 cup black molasses (use an oiled 250ml/1-cup measure for ease)
– 3 large eggs
– 1-1/4-inch piece fresh gingerroot, peeled and finely grated to give 2 teaspoons
– 2 cups all-purpose flour
– 2 teaspoons baking powder
– 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
– 1/2 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg
– 2 1/2 teaspoons Chinese five spice powder
– 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
– Nonstick cooking spray (or sunflower oil for greasing)
