Chuck Norris Announces A Heartbreaking Loss

Action film star Chuck Norris has announced the passing of his mother, Wilma Norris, at the age of 103. The 84-year-old star shared the news on Instagram Friday, posting a series of heartfelt photos with his mother and revealing she had passed away earlier in the week.

“Wednesday morning, my brother Aaron and I’s wonderful mother went home to be with Jesus. Our mom was a woman of unwavering faith, a beacon of light in our lives, and her love reflected God’s grace. Growing up, her laughter filled our home with joy, and her hugs provided a sense of safety that we will forever cherish. She had a remarkable way of making everyone feel special, often putting the needs of others before her own. From my earliest memories, she taught me the importance of kindness and compassion. I am so thankful for the countless lessons she shared, the prayers she lifted for us, and the way she embodied the love of Christ every day. We love you, Mom. Until we meet again.”

In May 2023, Chuck took to Facebook to celebrate his Mom’s 102nd birthday. He said,

“WOW! I can hardly believe it. My mother, Wilma Norris Knight, is 102 years young this week, on May 4. She was born in 1921. What’s even more remarkable is that she is so full of life that she might make it another 100 years!”

In 2011, Wilma Norris published her autobiography, Acts of Kindness: My Story, where she shared personal stories about her life and her son Chuck Norris’s childhood.

Wilma Norris grew up in extreme poverty. At the age of 8, she was placed under state care. Wilma spent two years in a children’s hospital being treated for a rare illness. At 16, she married Ray Norris, Chuck’s father.

Chuck Norris (born March 10, 1940) is an American martial artist, actor, film producer, and author, best known for his roles in action films and the long-running TV series Walker, Texas Ranger. Born in Ryan, Oklahoma, as Carlos Ray Norris, he was the eldest of three boys. His family faced financial challenges, and his father left when he was young. Norris developed an interest in martial arts while serving in the U.S. Air Force as an air policeman stationed in South Korea.

After his military service, Norris began a successful career in karate, opening a chain of karate schools and winning numerous championships. He earned the Professional Middleweight Karate title in 1968 and held it for six consecutive years. In 1969, he met Bruce Lee, who cast him in the iconic fight scene in Way of the Dragon (1972). This launched Norris’s film career, leading to roles in action movies like Good Guys Wear Black (1978), The Octagon (1980), and Lone Wolf McQuade (1983). He cemented his star status with Missing in Action (1984) and Code of Silence (1985).

From 1993 to 2001, Norris starred in Walker, Texas Ranger, portraying the tough yet honorable Cordell Walker. The show became a cultural phenomenon. Norris also inspired a wave of internet humor known as “Chuck Norris Facts,” which humorously exaggerate his toughness and abilities.

Outside of acting, Norris is a devoted Christian, philanthropist, and author of several books, including his autobiography Against All Odds. He supports various charitable causes, such as the Kickstart Kids program, which helps teach character development through martial arts. Norris has been married twice and has five children.
