The 2022 Academy Awards were certainly unusual. Nobody expected the drama that occurred that night. It all started when Chris Rock made a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith‘s hair. Then Will Smith, Pinkett Smith’s husband, jumped to her defense in a completely inappropriate way.

Smith walked on stage and slapped Rock in the face. Then he returned to his seat and yelled profanity at the comedian telling him not to talk about his wife. Rock managed to compose himself and keep the show going, but the incident was far from over.

Smith has since apologized for slapping Rock and yelling at him. He has also resigned from the Academy. The Academy also apologized for how they handled the incident.

Until recently, we didn’t know what Pinkett Smith thought about what happened during the awards show, but she finally broke her silence on a recent episode of her show, “Red Table Talk.” Pinkett Smith explained that she would like her husband and Rock to reconcile. She said, “My deepest hope is that these two intelligent, capable men have an opportunity to heal, talk this out, and reconcile. The state of the world today? We need them both, and we all actually need one another more than ever.” The rest of Pinkett Smith’s show was about alopecia, the disease that caused her to shave her head in the first place.

Now that we know Pinkett Smith’s thoughts about Oscar night, we can’t help but wonder what Rock has to say. Does he want to reconcile with Smith?

Rock has made a few jokes about Oscar night on his comedy tour, but he has not really spoken out about the incident. According to The Desert Sun, Rock doesn’t plan to talk about Oscar night “until I get paid.” During a tour stop in Indio, California, Rock said, “I’m OK, I have a whole show and I’m not talking about that until I get paid. Life is good. I got my hearing back.”

While we most likely won’t hear Rock’s side of the story directly from him any time soon, a source revealed to Entertainment Tonight that the comedian is “not concerned with the Smiths at the moment.” The source explained that his focus is on “touring and he’s preparing for a comedy special.” Don’t expect a heart to heart reconciliation moment between Rock and Smith any time soon.

Do you think Rock will ever tell his side of the story? Do you think Rock and Smith will ever reconcile?
