Cher Suffered 3 Miscarriages, Including The First When She Was 18
Many celebrities are coming forward to share their opinions and personal stories about abortion. The trigger for celebs admitting very personal decisions they made years ago was the Supreme Courtâs controversial decision to overturn Roe v. Wade.
The most recent celebrity to share her story is Cher. The singer tweeted that she had a total of three miscarriages when she was younger. The first miscarriage was when she was just 18 years old. It involved pain, a trip to the hospital, and a doctor sending her to the operating room.
When I was young I had 3 miscarriages.1st at 18.I was alone in our house.son came home & I was sobbing,& rocking on our floor.when I got 2 dr I was screaming in pain.couldnât even stop in elevator.dr sent me straight 2 hospital,& in2 operating rm.WHAT WOULD HAPPEN 2 ME TODAYđ

While many, including Cher, feel that in states that outlaw abortion a woman who has a miscarriage will be in a horrible situation, not everyone agrees. A few of Cherâs followers commented that if Cher had the same experience today nothing would change.
I am sorry this happened to you. What on earth would change today? If you miscarry, the procedure performed will not end the life of a child, and therefore will not be an abortion.

Yet, even though many would like to believe that nothing has changed when it comes to treating when who have miscarriages, thatâs not everyoneâs experience.
Are you sure about that? https://t.co/OMrGfIYVpQ

In a recent post, Cher tweeted again that âSome young women are so afraid theyâre getting sterilized.â

Some of Cherâs followers pointed out that sterilization isnât always an option for women even if theyâre scared. One woman shared that her doctor wouldnât let her get sterilized.
When I was young, I tried. They wouldnât do it. Said I was too young to make such an irrevocable decision. I married a guy who also didnât want kids, and we never had them. Now they donât even want to let couples decide for themselves. VOTE to end this nightmare!

How do you think Cherâs experience would have been different if she had a miscarriage today? Do you know any young women who are contemplating sterilization because Roe v Wade was overturned?
