In February 2023, police found actor Cody Longo dead at a residence in Austin, Texas. Police visited the residence after receiving a call from Longo’s wife who was worried when she was unable to reach her husband. He was only 34 years old.

At the time of Longo’s death, a cause of death was not released; however, a family member who spoke to TMZ seemed to believe Longo’s death could have been alcohol related. Now, four months later, we finally know the official cause of death.

According to the autopsy report which was obtained by TMZ, the late actor’s official cause of death was “chronic ethanol abuse.” In addition, the report mentioned that Longo’s body was already decomposing when police found him, and there were multiple alcohol bottles around his body.

Longo’s family previously told TMZ that the actor went to rehab in 2022 after struggling with alcohol abuse for many years. Back in 2013, Longo received a DUI and had to attend alcohol education classes.

Longo, who was sometimes credited as Cody Anthony, was best known for his roles on TV and in films including “Days of Our Lives,” “Make it or Break It,” “Hollywood Heights,” “Nashville,” and “The Last Movie Star.” His most recent project was “High School Crimes & Misdemeanors” in 2020. He had three upcoming projects, “End of Conspiracy” and and “Untitled Racing Project” which were both in pre-production as well as a film called “Do You Want to Die in Indio” which was in production.

Besides his wife, Stephanie Longo, Cody Longo was also survived by his three children, seven year old Lyla, 5 year old Elijah, and 2 year old Noah. In honor of Father’s Day, Stephanie turned to her Instagram stories to share pictures of her late husband with their children. She captioned the post, “Celebrating Cody in heaven. Thankful for the beautiful moments we created and the beautiful babies we created.”

Rest in peace.
