Here’s How to Catch an Alligator With a Trash Can

Certain parts of the country have certain types of wild animals that sometimes wander into neighborhoods. For example, some people have found bears on their property. Other people deal with alligators.
Abdul Gene Malik lives in Florida with his family. Florida is alligator country, and it’s not unheard of to see an alligator in an area near water.

When Malik saw an alligator in front of his house, he did something very brave and creative. He knew that he needed to protect his family, so he decided to make sure the alligator left his property quickly. He wasn’t going to wait around for animal control or simply hope the alligator wandered away. No, he took matters into his own hands.

With the help of a garbage can, the kind used for trash pickup by a garbage truck, Malik faced the alligator and basically ate the creature with the trash can lid. The whole ordeal was captured on camera. His family and onlookers can be heard in the background laughing, talking and cheering him on.

At one point in the video, Malik makes a request. He says, “Someone let me know when the head’s inside.” When someone off-camera informs him that the alligator’s head is inside the trash can, Malik takes action.

Some viewers are appalled that Malik scared the alligator and put him inside a trash can, but one person on Twitter commented with a follow-up to the story reassuring viewers that the alligator was safely relocated.

What would you do if you saw an alligator in front of your house? After watching this video, would you be brave enough to try to catch it with a trash can? Have you ever seen a wild animal in a residential neighborhood where you live?
