Caitlyn Jenner Has Announced That She’s Running for California Governor

After a few rumors had spread earlier this month, Caitlyn Jenner has just signed the papers to make her run for governor of California official.

A longtime Republican, Jenner is looking to replace Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom in a recall election to occur later this year.

Her team consists of GOP advisers including Tony Fabrizio, the top pollster on Donald Trump’s 2016 and 2020 campaigns, Ryan Erwin, founder of RedRock Strategies, and Tyler Deaton, president of Allegiance Strategies.

Additionally, she’ll be working with former Trump White House Steven Cheung, who helped Arnold Schwarzenegger, another Hollywood star and Republican, win his 2003 recall campaign.

However, Jenner, a trans woman, “is very socially liberal. She’s running as someone that’s socially liberal and fiscally conservative,” a campaign adviser told Axios. ” I think that Caitlyn will talk to anyone, Democrat or Republican. Donald Trump is not going to be the deciding factor for the state of California.”

The website for Jenner’s campaign and WinRed donation page are set to go live on April 23.

“I am a proven winner and the only outsider who can put an end to Gavin Newsom’s disastrous time as governor,” Jenner wrote in her announcement. “Californians want better and deserve better from their governor For too long, career politicians have over-promised and under-delivered.”

“Sacramento needs an honest leader with a clear vision,” Jenner continued, adding that “for the past decade, we have seen the glimmer of the Golden State reduced by one-party rule that places politics over progress and special interests over people.”

So what are her chances of winning? A recent statewide survey revealed 40% of participants in support of recalling Newsom.
