‘Buttered Saltine Crackers’ Are the Trendy New Snack That’s Taking Over the Internet

Perhaps you think there are two basic kinds of store bought crackers. There are ones that are salty, and then there are ones that are buttery.

When we think of a buttery cracker, we think of Ritz. The round crackers obviously still have a little bit of salt on them, but the taste is mainly buttery.

When we think of salty crackers we think of Saltines. The ingredient is in the name after all, and the taste of these square crackers is most definitely salty.

Honestly, we’ve always favored the buttery crackers, but it turns out that we never had to choose. After learning about the new buttered Saltine crackers trend that’s super popular on the internet right now, we realized that we had been missing out on something easy, delicious and literally the best of both worlds when it comes to salty and buttery.

Here’s the deal. You buy a box of Saltine crackers. You open a box and put some crackers on a plate. Then, you get out the butter. Spread some butter on top of the crackers, eat and enjoy.

So simple, right? It really is, but there are a couple tips to maximize your enjoyment of these easy to make and additive to eat crackers.

First, you don’t want to use hard butter. Trying to spread hard butter on crackers might cause the crackers to break. You need the butter to be soft enough to spread.

We leave our butter on the counter at room temperature, so it is always ready to spread. If that’s not your thing, you can take the butter out of the refrigerator a few minutes before you’re ready to eat.

Second, if you have a little time, you can put the crackers on a baking sheet and stick them in the oven for a couple minutes to warm them up. Then, you can spread the butter on top and watch it melt. Yummy! You could probably also try melting the butter in the microwave and spreading it on top of the crackers that way.

A final tip is to flip the crackers salt side down on your plate before spreading them with butter. Put the butter on the side that isn’t salty. Then, you have salt on one side and butter on the other. Put the crackers in your mouth salt side down so the salt hits your tongue first. You’re welcome.
