Ellen DeGeneres—it used to be a name that we’d associate with comedy. But if you’ve heard the news lately, it’s a name you might associate with anything but that.

DeGeneres has made many shocking headlines recently—from allegations regarding sexual misconduct on the Ellen DeGeneres Show to working in a toxic environment to even accusations that she’s not a nice person.

And now, the TV show host still can’t catch a break. One of her recent headlines involved her enduring a burglary at her home in Montecito, California on July 4. While neither Ellen nor her wife Portia de Rossi was injured, a few expensive pieces of jewelry and watches were stolen from their home.

Now, investigations have just determined that the crime was to be considered an “inside job.” At the time, the incident was classified as “celebrity status.”

With the new insight, locals have been told they no longer need to worry about intruders in their homes, since this burglary had an agenda.

“If it had been a case of outsiders coming in and breaking and entering, I’d have alerted you to be on the lookout and lock up everything,” a newsletter from the Montecito Association sent to residents stated. “According to our very helpful Sheriff Lt. Arnoldi, that appears to be an inside job.”

No further details about what type of inside job it was has been clarified, but investigations are ongoing. We’ll report back if we hear anything!
