Brooks & Dunn’s Singer Walks Off Stage During Encore, Sparking Health Concerns Among Fans

Brooks & Dunn fans were left surprised and wanting more on Thursday night when the duo abruptly ended their encore performance.
In a TikTok video, Ronnie Dunn—one half of the iconic country pair—is seen walking off stage in the middle of their hit song “Boot Scootin’ Boogie,” which was meant to close out the show. The group is currently on their Neon Moon tour, which wraps up at the end of April.

Before leaving, Dunn tells the Indianapolis crowd, “Sing it if you know it,” then steps away from the mic, signals to a bandmate that he’s finished, and shakes his head. He taps his chest, points toward the audience, and exits the stage, leaving fans confused and concerned.
“Ronnie wasn’t feeling well from being sick, but Saturday night’s show went on as planned,” a band rep said in a statement to USA Today.
Brooks & Dunn, made up of Kix Brooks and Ronnie Dunn, are one of the most successful country music duos. Formed in 1990, the pair brought together two solo artists who, at the suggestion of record executive Tim DuBois, joined forces to create a sound that blended honky-tonk, rock, and traditional country.
Their debut album, Brand New Man (1991), was an instant hit, spawning four No. 1 singles including the title track, “Neon Moon,” and “Boot Scootin’ Boogie,” which helped kick off the ’90s line-dancing craze. With their signature blend of strong harmonies and energetic performances, Brooks & Dunn quickly became fan favorites and critical darlings.
Over their career, the duo has released 11 studio albums, had over 20 No. 1 hits on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart, and sold more than 30 million records worldwide. They’ve earned numerous awards, including multiple CMA and ACM Vocal Duo of the Year honors, as well as two Grammy Awards.
Known for their contrasting yet complementary styles—Kix Brooks with his lively stage presence and Ronnie Dunn with his powerful vocals—the duo officially announced a split in 2009 to pursue solo projects. However, they reunited in 2015 for a Las Vegas residency with Reba McEntire and have continued touring and recording together since, including their 2019 collaborative album Reboot, which featured modern country artists covering Brooks & Dunn classics.
