British actor Jake Abraham is probably best known for the role he played in the 1998 film “Lock, Stock And Two Smoking Barrels.” He portrayed a thief whose goal was to steal an antique shotgun. Other notable credits include “Formula 51,” “Mean Machine,” and “London Boulevard.”

Now comes the sad news that Abraham has died at the age of 56 years old. The cause of death was prostate cancer. He died on October 1, 2023, in his home country of England.

Abraham once told the Liverpool Echo how he received the cancer diagnosis. He explained, “I was working, but I wasn’t feeling well. I was pushing through those spells when you don’t feel yourself, you haven’t got the energy, and there are aches and pains.”

Eventually, there was an even more serious symptom that made him decide to go to the doctor. He explained, “What made me go to the doctor and get a PSA (prostate-specific antigen) test was that I passed blood in my urine.”

When he finally did see the doctor, he said, “I got a test and ended up in the Royal.” After the results of the test came back, the doctor told him, “You’ve got cancer, I’m so, so sorry.” The doctor also told him that he believed Abraham had been unknowingly living with cancer for a long time, possibly up to four years.

Bill Elms is a theater director in Liverpool, and he has worked with Abraham multiple times. When he heard about Abraham’s death, he shared his feelings with the Liverpool Echo. First, he explained his working relationship with Abraham. He said, “I had the great pleasure of working with Jake on a few shows I co-produced, Twopence to Cross the Mersey and Lennon’s Banjo, he was a wonderful actor, a great company member and was much loved by so many in the industry.”

Then Elms explained a little bit more about Abraham’s personality and admirable qualities. He shared, “I have many fond memories of Jake, he was always so upbeat and fun to be around. I admired him for going public with his illness, it will make a difference to many others and save lives. It’s a very sad day. RIP and sending my love to his friends and family.”

Abraham is survived by his wife, Joanna Taylor, and their two children.
