Bad, Bad News About TV Sitcom Star

Actor Danny Masterson is probably best known for his role as Steven Hyde on the sitcom “That 70’s Show.” Unfortunately, he is now known for something else that is overshadowing his acting career.

Back in 2020, Masterson was arrested after three women accused him of rape over 10 years earlier. The women claimed he raped them at his Hollywood Hills home between the years of 2001 and 2003. Masterson and all three women were Scientologists at the time.

Masterson was free on bail of $3 million until today, when the jury read the verdict in the case against him. If found guilty, he would face sentencing of 15 years to life for each conviction.

After 6 days of deliberations and a long weekend break, on May 31st, 2023, the jury reached a decision in the case. Masterson was found guilty on two counts of rape, but the jury remained undecided on a decision about the third count, which involved an ex-girlfriend of Masterson.

While the verdict was read, 57-year-old Masterson kept a poker face, but his wife, Bijou Phillips, was audibly crying in the courtroom. Other family members and even Masterson’s legal team were visibly crying in the courtroom.

Judge Charlaine Olemdo believed that Masterson was a “flight risk,” so immediately after the verdict was read, he was handcuffed and taken away. The next hearing is scheduled for August 4th.

Masterson’s alleged victims were mostly satisfied with the jury’s decision. Christina B said, “I remain determined to secure justice, including in civil court, where I, along with my co-plaintiffs, will shine a light on how Scientology and other conspirators enabled and sought to cover up Masterson’s monstrous behavior.”

D.A. George Gascón thanked the three women for coming forward with their accusations. He said, “Their courage and strength have been an inspiration to us all.”
