Following her tragic death, Anne Heche leaves behind two sons: Homer and Atlas.

Homer is the son of Coleman “Coley” Laffoon, to whom Heche was married from 2001-2009 (though they separated in 2007).

Heche left Laffoon for her Men in Trees co-star, James Tupper. Tupper and Heche had son, Atlas, in 2009.

Twenty-year-old Homer shared a statement with People following his mom’s death:

“My brother Atlas and I lost our Mom. After six days of almost unbelievable emotional swings, I am left with a deep, wordless sadness. Hopefully my mom is free from pain and beginning to explore what I like to imagine as her eternal freedom.”

“Over those six days, thousands of friends, family, and fans made their hearts known to me. I am grateful for their love, as I am for the support of my Dad, Coley, and my stepmom Alexi who continue to be my rock during this time.”

“Rest In Peace Mom, I love you.”

It’s obvious from both Heche’s social media posts about her sons that she loved being a mom to her two boys.

Following the birth of her second son, Atlas, Heche told People in 2009:

“Obviously, the miracle of life for a mother is just dumbfounding. It’s so hard to explain how wonderful it is to look in the eyes of a child that you’re blessed with.”

“I think that helps as a mom, to be able to really take in the experience in maybe just a little bit slower way rather than being just so panicked about whether you’re doing this right.”

And specifically about Atlas:

“He cracks a smile every time he opens his eyes and he’s a real bundle of joy.”

And on how older brother Homer handled the birth of Atlas:

“It’s hard to share attention. I mean, everyone says that, but he’s really found his stride now and he’s very protective of him.”

Heche posted this picture with her youngest son, Atlas, on March 7, 2022:

And she posted this sweet video about celebrating Valentine’s Day with her son Atlas:

And in 2013, Heche told Breezy Mama about the joy of having boys:

“I play football, baseball … I play all these things I never thought I would play. Anything with a ball, they love. Boys are cuddlers and lovers, though. When you tire them out, they love to sit and cuddle their mama. That’s the blessing of boys.”
