Sometimes when someone recovers from Covid-19, all of their symptoms and side effects go away right away. Other times, people experience lingering symptoms that last for months.

Many people have experienced loss of taste and smell due to Covid. While that is an invisible symptom, meaning that it doesn’t make you look any different, it can be very frustrating not to enjoy food and everyday smells like flowers the same way as before Covid.

Another long haul symptom that many people have experienced is hair loss. Actress Alyssa Milano brought attention to this side effect when she posted a video on Twitter where she was brushing her hair. She tested positive for Covid in March 2020, but in August 2020, when she posted the video, she was still experiencing excessive hair loss.

In the video, Milano brushed her hair to show just how much hair was coming out. She captioned the video, “Thought I’d show you what #Covid19 does to your hair.”

In response to her video, her hairstylist, Linh Nguyen, told Milano to stop brushing her hair. He sent her Nioxin treatments. Nguyen told PEOPLE, “The best text I got this week was Alyssa saying her hair is doing much better and she’s continuing the Nioxin regimen.” He added, “Her hair feels thicker and she’s happy with the results.”

In order to stop her Covid related hair loss, Milano used the Nioxin Minoxidil Hair Regrowth Treatment in addition to the Nioxin System 6 Kit, but those aren’t the only products she credits with restoring her lush locks.

Actress Kiersten Warren tagged Milano in a tweet asking for advice. She shared that her mom was experiencing hair loss due to Covid, and she was wondering if there were any remedies that Milano recommended.
