Actor From ‘Scarface’ Has Passed Away At 68

Angel Salazar, best known for playing “Chi Chi” in the classic movie “Scarface” passed away.Chi Chi played Al Pacino’s trusted friend. He was 68.

The actor died in his sleep while he was at his friend’s home in Brooklyn, according to what Salazar’s rep Ann Wingsong reported to TMZ

On the morning of August 11, Angel’s friend found Salazar in his bed dead. An official cause of death has not been released but the rep said Salazar had “heart issues.”

The Musician Tito Puente posted a tribute to his late friend on X saying,

Salazar is perhaps best known for his role as Chi Chi in the iconic 1983 film “Scarface,” directed by Brian De Palma. In “Scarface,” Salazar’s portrayal of the ambitious, fast-talking gangster made him known and cemented his place in Hollywood.

After “Scarface,” Salazar has appeared in a variety of other films and television shows. Notably, he played a significant role in the 1993 film “Carlito’s Way,” another collaboration with Brian De Palma, which further showcased his acting range. His filmography includes appearances in movies such as “Where the Buffalo Roam” (1980), “Punchline” (1988), and “The Last Fight” (1983).

In addition to his film work, Angel Salazar has made a name for himself in the world of stand-up comedy. His live performances are characterized by a unique blend of humor that often incorporates his Cuban heritage, personal stories, and observational comedy.
