Dad Helps 4-Year-Old Ask Out His Valentine’s Crush and Thankfully Filmed the Whole Saga

Valentine’s Day is the most romantic holiday of the year, and although it’s easy to discount it as a Hallmark holiday, it’s certainly a fun reason to plan a date night.

Valentine’s Day takes on a whole new meaning when you have kids. First of all, unless you have a babysitter, there is no date night. Instead, you might be watching Baby Shark. A romantic date becomes more of a family celebration, and it starts at school.

We’re sure you’ve seen the boxes of Valentines in stores like Target and Walmart. There are even kits to make fancy mailboxes to bring to school when everyone exchanges Valentines.

While many schools have Valentine’s Day parties where kids of all ages enjoy heart-shaped treats and exchange cards with their classmates, sometimes even little kids have a special someone who deserves an extra special valentine.

We’re not talking about middle school or high school aged kids. We’re talking about little kids. We’re talking about preschool.

Meet 4-year-old Fynnton. He already has his first crush on a girl at school, and he wants to make her a card. Not only that, but he wants to ask her to be his girlfriend.

Dad sets up the video camera as he helps Fynnton plan the perfect way to ask his crush, Piper, to be his girlfriend. The video shows the two deciding on a course of action (making a card) and practicing asking Piper to be his girlfriend. Dad role plays with his son, pretending that he’s Piper.

We’re sure that some parents would’ve dismissed their child’s cute preschool crush and his desire to ask her to be his girlfriend, but we love that this dad helped his son go all out. He’s showing him how to be a true gentleman at such a young age. We’re sure this video is one that they will treasure forever, and one that dad will probably pull out when Fynnton is a teenager who brings home his first real girlfriend.

On the big day, Fynnton is all dressed up. He’s wearing a red sport coat and a bowtie. He looks really sharp as he waits patiently for Piper to arrive at school. He tells his dad that he’s not nervous at all.

When Piper shows up, he hands her the card which has a picture of him on the front. Inside, with dad’s help, Fynnton wrote “Hello. Will you be my girlfriend?” Then, just like back in the day, there were three options: yes, no, maybe.

Watch the video below to see how Piper responds to Fynnton’s question.
