It’s unusual for young women to be diagnosed with breast cancer, especially young women with no history of cancer in their family. Unfortunately, 29-year-old TikToker Clare Sacco is the exception to the rule.

Sacco has been sharing her journey with breast cancer on TikTok in order to raise awareness. She thinks it is especially important for young people to know that it is possible to get breast cancer.

Her videos chronicle her journey with cancer. For example, in the video below, she shows what it’s like to get tested to see if her cancer has spread or stayed the same.

Recently, Sacco shared even more details about her breast cancer journey with PEOPLE. She explained that she was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2019 when she was 25 years old. After chemo and radiation she was given the “all clear,” but in March 2023, she found out the cancer came back, and this time it had spread.

When cancer spreads it is considered incurable. She is receiving treatment to try to extend her life as long as possible while also providing her with the highest quality of life. Regardless, she is still living with stage 4 metastatic breast cancer, and she knows her time is limited.

Instead of making a bucket list, Sacco has made what she’s referring to as a “living list.” She explained, “My list is about living life to the fullest, as opposed to completing things before I die. So that’s why I called it a ‘living list,’ because it’s about living and living life to the fullest.”

The items on Sacco’s list range from relatively simple things like stargazing and learning to juggle to much more adventurous things like snorkeling at the Great Barrier Reef in Australia and driving Route 66 in the United States. Another item on her bucket list includes getting married.

Two months after she was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer, her boyfriend proposed. She is now engaged to a man named Alex whom she has known since she was 11 years old, and he wants to experience the “fun” items on her bucket list with her. For example, they’re “jetskiing in the Caribbean next year” when they go on their honeymoon in February.

Does it surprise you that someone so young would be diagnosed with a terminal disease? What would you put on your “living list”?
