15-Year-Old Carrie Fisher Sings ‘Bridge Over Troubled Water’

We don’t know from experience, but it has to be challenging growing up with famous and very talented parents. After all, when a celebrity has a child it’s only natural to wonder if their son or daughter will grow up to have the same talents they have.

In a way, it might sound like it would be amazing to have natural talent and an “in” in the entertainment industry if your mom or dad is already a household name, but children of celebrity parents don’t always look at it that way.

Carrie Fisher didn’t necessarily want to follow in her famous mother’s footsteps either. Fisher, the actress best known for her role as Princess Leia, is the daughter of Debbie Reynolds and Eddie Fisher.

Reynolds often encouraged her daughter to sing, because it turns out that she had an amazing voice. If we were Carrie Fisher’s parents, we probably would’ve encouraged her to sing too.

Not singing was almost a form of rebellion for Fisher, one that bothered her mother.

Obviously, Fisher did inherit talent from her famous parents, but many people only know about her acting skills. Fisher had an amazing singing voice and even at a young age.

At just 15-years-old, Fisher was sitting in the audience watching her mother perform. Reynolds insisted that her daughter join her on the stage, and Fisher eventually agreed, walking onto the stage and taking the microphone. Reynolds wanted her daughter to sing, and she did. Her voice was deep, clear and powerful.

Many viewers are surprised and impressed by Fisher’s incredible singing talent. One person wrote, “My god, I never knew she could SING!! That voice has massive potential! Such a rich, full blooded tone. And she was only 15 here….I have no doubt she could have been a singing star if she had so decided. What a wonderful, lost talent…”

Another comment reads, “Aww, look at Debbie tearing up, it’s too bad she didn’t want to sing, she could have made a living at it.”
